Project 2002-2018

DRUMBO VILLAGE RENEWAL (DDCA)

With an ageing facade to match the ageing population, Drumbo village is long overdue investment following the loss of Post Office, Primary School and key services over the past 10 years. Young families struggle to settle in the area, retiring professionals want to remain and development is heavily restricted by planners. The heritage and beauty of the surroundings are not complimented by the current street furniture or decor of the main transit routes.

In the early 'noughties', a residents group formed as the 'Drumbo & District Community Association'. Members and Chairpersons have come and gone, but the struggle to find investment for improvements to the village has continued throughout. In no small way, Paul Gregg has been the stalwart throughout and thanks to his efforts, funding for improvements to the village centre was approved in 2017. Final plans for the area around 'the pump' and general improvements in the main street, will be published when released by Lisburn & Castlereigh City Council.
